Rhineland International School

To teachers applying for a position at the Rhineland International School, be warned that it has not changed much since it was called the International School Heiligenhaus.

Firstly the school does not reply to applications if you are unsuccessful and does not reply to emails.

The main reason that Dr. Mock the owner of ISH was sued so many times by teachers is now working at the RIS. It has been suggested by some, that he is still on Dr. Mock’s payroll, which would not be surprising as she is having problems getting students at her school in Bochum. At time of writing there were only 12 students.

Yungang Zhang has been able to keep his job at the International School Heiligenhaus which is now the Rhineland International School. He is not an trained teacher nor does he have an BA in education. His last know working creditial is working at Subway Sandwiches. This is a man that can not be trusted at all cost.

Teachers be warned if you are considering working at this school, to stay well clear of this man. He has never trained as a teacher and has poor classroom management skills. This man speaks to teachers, as he would talk to his teenage employees in Subway.

The Mismanagement and Miseducation of International School Heiligenhaus

 

In official German newspapers and television media reports, the International School Heiligenhaus Secondary campus has been officially evicted by the City of Heiligenhaus for failure to pay rent arrears amounting to high five-figure sum. The secondary campus is located on Ludgerus Street in Heiligenhaus. However the main campus on Sportfield Street still remains open. The future of this school is still not clear . Several interested parties from parents have expressed interest in sponsoring this school but as it stands now no parent has been able to fulfill the financial outstanding debts obligations that has occurred at this school.

As educators worldwide, we must first take a hard look at the history of this school and evaluate what educational errors have been made and understand why this school has failed the international educational community as an whole.

Past German newspapers have written numerous articles about the conditions of employment and hygiene at International School Heiligenhaus. Over 35 employees registered with the union Verdi lodges serious allegations against the school principal. Many have expressed deplorable working situations and termination at the end of their probationary period without just cause including non-payment of work . Kitchen staff in these articles discuss how Dr. Ursula Mock made them take half eaten food and place it back on the buffet. In addition the Trade union Verdi has also staged an protests outside of the school.

Detmold Campus Denied National Recognition by the Ministry of Education in Germany

Since last year, Dr Ursula Mock decided to continue to expand her chain of schools in Detmold. The Ministry of Education decided not to grant this new school in Detmond national accreditation for many proven and valid reasons.

The Minister of Education, Sylvia Löhrmann presented to the NRW Parliament an clear document explaining why the school will not be granted national recognition. This official document can be viewed online

In summary, Sylvia Löhrman

In summary, Sylvia Löhrman declares that the Detmold campus does not have enough international companies that would warrant foreigners to the region who would be interested in having their children educated in an international school.

Mrs. Löhrman states that the school cannot meet the pre-requisites required to be an International School. The Ministry of Education has received many complaints about this school principal owner Dr. Ursula Mock who has proven that the school cannot guarantee that the school will meet general guidelines and standards of education.

As of August 22,2011 the Ministry of Education informed Dr. Ursula Mock what pre-requisites are required in order for the school to be opened. She has not provided nor has she responded to all the documentations required to fulfill these requests.

Due to the legal implications of this school opening without the full support of the Ministry of Education the Detmold campus cannot be opened as a fulltime school. It can however remain open as only to provide supplementary lessons to students. In order for students to attend the Detmold campus they would need to apply for a student waiver from their regular schooling that would grant them from the obligation to attend the mandatory German public school system. The owner of the school Dr. Ursula Mock is unable to accept any students without this document of confirmation.

In September 2011, the Ministry of Education has requested the school owner Dr. Ursula Mock to provide a list of students who have copies of these exception notices. She has not supplied nor responded to this request. The Ministry of education then decided to formally forbid students to attend this campus without this certification of an student waiver

Hiring New School Principal for Positive Change 

In September 2012, in order to improve parent confidence and relations Dr. Ursula Mock hires an accredited and trained new school Principal Ricardo Passo. Originally from the Panama, he holds an master degree in education from the University of Chicago. He also has an BA in Philosophy and Psychology. Clearly a right choice and fit for the position.

In an one -on-one interview with German news media he shares his experience in his first six months as principal of the school . When asked, “How does your education vision differ from the plans of your predecessor, Dr. Ursula Mock?

“He states : 

“I am educator, teacher, psychologist. She was the Organizer. She has the passion, that it needs to open a school, but it is not made of the substance from which teachers are. Our educational values differ. To me, education is not only the top notes, but also that each student should achieve the best scores, it can reach. Their idea was more that we can push students to performance. Dr. mock has built up. At some point, a school must be a school”. 

What have you changed since your Office? 

“It is most significant that in my time at the ISH, no teacher in the middle of the school year was dismissed or has terminated, because he or she is not feeling well or has been treated badly. The teachers have the feeling that they are recognized and respected. In January, we introduced team teaching, that is to say that several teachers teach in a class. So we can refer individual pupils. In addition we one day of cultures have set up”.

In an interesting turn of events just 2 weeks after of sharing this interview with the media and just shy of his six months probationary period, Ricardo Passo was fired via e-mail that was sent to parents overnight by Ursula Mock. In the email it states:

I’m extremely sorry to have to tell you today that I must separate from Mr. Ricardo Passo as a principal. “His teaching skills are the one that the school visible and tangible results to the other side. For all teaching skills, it is unfortunately not been able to devote themselves to the administrative aspects of our school with the necessary attention and appropriate emphasis” 

Concerned parents of the school tried to become an mediator and negotiator in the matter to encourage Ricardo Passo to remain at the school. However the separation became mutual and Ricardo Passo was no longer the principal.

New Changes..New Problems 

After the dismissal of Ricardo Passo, Ursula Mock declares herself once again the Principal of International School Heiligenhaus. Within the next two months the secondary campus received an eviction notice by the City of Heiligenhaus for non-payment of rent.

After receiving an backlash from parents about the eviction notice. Dr. Ursula Mock declares to news media she will retire once parents take full sponsorship of the school and pay all outstanding fees within the next 24 hours via e-mail.

In her e-mail notice to parents about the future of International School Helilgenhaus she states:

“I have misunderstood the situation. I underestimated it, and this has meant that the vast majority of parents did not pay. “The demands of the school on school fees amounted to a high six-figure sum. This state I’m not a business. “So ultimately, the proposal of the parents, the only sensible way for the school to remain is with the parents”. 

The Mayor of Heiligenhaus, Dr. Jan Heinisch remains optimistic and realistic as well the prime negotatior on the situation of the school. In an online survey conducted; 80% of parents wants the school to remain open. With this survey results, Dr Mock once again declares she will remain as principal of the school.

However the Mayor of Heiligenhaus dismisses Dr. Mock’s claims and states that both school buildings are guilty of nonpayment of rent and he has officially terminated the school lease. He remains firm that it would not be possible for Dr. Mock to continue the school given the circumstances . The Mayor declares that the situation is now before the courts and a court decision on the matter will be provided to the public within the next two – three months.

The Ministry of education has once again visited the school for an unannouced educational inspection and has reported that all educational lessons are being conducted as normal despite the secondary school closure.

As it stands now the International School Heiligenhaus is closed and has been taken over by Klett. Klett is an education book publisher that owns and operates several schools. The school now has a proper board of directors and is managed by Anke Klien with an proper head master by the name of Simon Davidson. Parents have alleged in newspaper reports that Dr. Ursula Mock took 1.2 Million Euros of the school funds as an advance loan to guarantee her outstanding horse debts. Unfortunately, Dr. Ursula Mock still owns and operates the International School Bochum. We urge parents, teachers and students to avoid this school. As it stands now the International School Bochum only has 12 students enrolled, where 3 of which are her very own children

“I saw no future, especially when it came to the fulfillment of conditions for the upper range.” So it had been discussions about, among other things, “whether 

physical education is attributable to the legally required amount of instruction in German language.” “Teachers are afraid there are not going to get their salaries,” continued Mr. Biehler. The situation has obviously deteriorated since Easter. “It probably looks like the school now only has 120 students”.

It is obvious now that the new ISH is just the same as the old one and nothing has changed, so teachers beware.

Information which we only gave to the new ISH wound up being shared by the Bochum School, which Dr. Mock still owns. So we can only presume she is involved in both schools, as how else would she get information that we sent only to ISH. Several emails sent to the principal of the school asking if there was a link went unanswered.

If you don’t want to end up going to court to get you wages, then teachers are warned not to have anything to do with either school.

Trying to distance herself but still pulling the strings

The International School Heiligenhaus is owned by Dr. Ursula Mock. There have been numerous online and newspaper reports about the past mismanagement and educational malpractices of this school director, in over the past year. Such allegations as illegal fingerprinting of children, verbal abuse of teachers, deportation and labour exploitation, illegal hiring and unsanitary and unsafe working conditions. She has been investigated by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Finance , Ministry of Labour. Multiple labour unions have staged protests in front of her school

Dr. Ursula Mock is an trained animal doctor with no professional accreditation in education. Qualified teachers have to fight for resources, are often not paid and not paid on time. There has been numerous court cases filed against this school director.

Ursula Mock has now employed a new principal by the name of Ricardo Passo while she pursues to open more international schools across Germany.  The present principal does not have the financial power to control the operations of the school and many parents have withdrawn their children out of the school . Ursula Mock has now opened the International School Germany and this school has recently been denied recognition by the Germany Ministry of Education. She has over 70 domain names with plans to open schools in such cities as Bonn and Koln. All these schools are money making scams and have very little to do with education.

Parents pay over 10,000 Euros in tuition fees where only 5 Euros per child is dedicated for resources. Teachers are expected to teach with little materials. There has been allegations of child mistreatment and feeding children cafeteria food from the garbage. All in the name to save money and gain high profits for the school directors pocket. If offered a contract do not sign it as there is clauses which states if you quit the position you would have to pay the school director over 10,000 Euros which is illegal under German law.

This school is now resorting to recruiting teachers from other third world English speaking countries as professional teachers have filed multiple grievances against this school.  The school is targeting these teachers for labour exploitation. A head school administrator for the Chinese department is actually an former manager from Subway sandwiches he is not a certified or accredited teacher.
